2009 Yamaha XV650
This motorcycle was an insurance repair, and the customer was so happy with it that he booked it in for further repairs that were not covered.
The extra work we did was to paint the rear Guard matt black, new rear tyre and new fork seals which was a few hours labour.
After it was done, we gave it a shine up. The result is startling.
The bike looks amazing and a very happy customer rode it away.
DUCATI 848 EVO
The motorcycle that these parts belong to was in a smash.
at present we are waiting for a part from Italy, which will take a while.

INSURANCE REPAIR - 1942 Harley Davidson Walla
The original 1942 WLA Harley has come in to be repaired as it recently was submerged in the floods in the Hunter Valley.
The bike is good original condition before the flooding, and it is our challenge to get it back to this condition. As the bike has been submerged, we have to open everything and clean and check all functions are working correctly. Rubbers components will be OK as they can survive the flood waters.
All bolts and nuts must be checked for corrosion and pollution from chemicals in the flood waters. The engine and gearbox will have to be drained and refilled with new fresh oil. All cables removed and lubricated. All electrics must be removed and cleaned and checked for functionality.
The bike will be detailed before returning to the customer. It is expected that this process will take approx. 4-6 weeks.
A bit of History on this model
The Harley-Davidson WLA is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was produced to US Army specifications in the years during and around World War II. It was based on an existing civilian model, the WL, and is of the 45 solo type, so called due to its 45-cubic-inch (740 cm3) engine displacement and single-rider design. It acquired the nickname "Liberator"
Harley-Davidson began producing the WLA in small numbers in 1940, as part of a general military expansion. The later entry of the United States into World War II saw significantly increased production, with over 90,000 being produced during the war (along with spare parts the equivalent of many more). Harley-Davidson would also produce a close WLA variant for the Canadian Army called the WLC and would also supply smaller numbers to the UK, South Africa, and other allies, as well as filling orders for different models from the Navy and Marine Corps.
Unusually, all the WLAs produced after Pearl Harbor, regardless of the actual year, would be given serial numbers indicating 1942 production. Thus, war-time machines would come to be known as 42WLAs. This may have been in recognition of the continued use of the same specification. Most WLCs were produced in 1943 and are marked 43WLC. The precise serial number, as well as casting marks, can be used to date a specific motor accurately, and some other parts bear year and month stamps. Frames and many other parts were not tagged with the serial number and cannot generally be dated. This is common prior to adoption of the vehicle identification number (VIN).
Many WLAs would be shipped to allies under the Lend-Lease program. The largest recipient was the Soviet Union, which was sold over 30,000 WLAs.
Production of the WLA would cease after the war, but would be revived for the Korean War during the years 1949–1952.
Most WLAs in western hands after the war would be sold as surplus and "civilianized"; the many motorcycles available at very low cost would lead to the rise of the chopper and other modified motorcycle styles, as well as the surrounding biker culture. Many a young soldier would come home hoping to get a Harley-Davidson like he saw or rode in the service, leading to the post-war popularity of both the motorcycle and the company in general.
However, this also ensured that few nearly original WLAs would survive in the US or even Western Europe. A significant number of WLAs were left in the Soviet Union, and either stored or put in private hands. With little access to parts and no chopper culture, and no export path to the West, many of those WLAs were preserved during the Cold War. Russia and other former Soviet countries are now a major source of WLAs and parts.

a colour invented by our paint shop gurus. The customer doesn’t want any decals.
There is a lot to do, but it will be done to our usual high standards.

UPDATE ON Harley Davidson Chopper.
Rags were applied to cover the frame to protect it due to it being a candy paint job.
The front end and has been assembled and installed, and the motor been placed and we are now waiting on a special nut to be made so the gearbox can then be returned.
we have prepared the rear swing arms/guards for installation but need the gearbox back before that can happen.
UPDATE ON Harley Davidson Chopper.
The rear swing arm has been installed.
Back wheel has been cleaned up and installed along with the mudguard.
Everything has been sorted to install but still waiting on the gearbox to be returned.
UPDATE ON Harley Davidson Chopper
The electrics have been tidied up and are mostly working.
There is an issue with the tail light. It was originally connected from a bracket on the side which is illegal in Australia. So now we have to work out how to place it when there is no room under the mudguard to run the wires and the bracket has to be attached to the back somehow.
This will be discussed with the owner.
The chain is on and the oil tank is in the process of being connected.
The front brakes are working perfectly and we are now waiting on the rear brake lines so they can be fitted.
Coming along nicely and hopefully will be able to present the finished project soon.
UPDATE
This is taking longer than expected as we had to solve how to fit the tail light and blinkers without compromising the paint job. These were previously fitted to the side of the bike. Solved.
It has had a new ignition case, oil tank, oil pressure switch, fuel tap fitted and the petrol tank has been seated. It needs the tail light wired and then can be assembled to go.
Hopefully it will be completed very soon.
COMPLETED
Our part of the restoration process is now complete.
All the parts have been assembled onto the bike and everything is shiny and new looking.
The new colour really makes it stand out against the chrome.
